At the top of the hill in the village of Gunwalloe on the way to Church and Dollar Coves, the Barefoot café is an ideal place to stop and take in the landscape, looking out across Mounts Bay, one of the finest views in Cornwall. There’s something for walkers and gift shoppers alike. The café has a cosy wood-burning stove on cooler days, chairs outside on warmer ones and the shop is full of Cornish outdoor lifestyle products – blankets, lanterns, candles, tiffin tins, ghillie kettles, hot chocolate kits, chilli jam, cushions, aprons and gifts for the garden and kitchen.

Walkers can enter from the coast path that runs through the Barefoot grounds. The menu focuses on good wholesome food, much of which is locally sourced.

Expect daily winter warmers such as:
Chicken and mushroom soup, or casseroles - such as fabada and tagines.

There are flatbread toasties with a choice of fillings, homemade cakes – brownies and clotted cream, cup cakes and usually a gluten-free option such as almond and orange blossom cake.

Coffee is supplied by Cornish coffee roasters Origin and served in beautiful Freud cafetieres. Hot chocolate dippers, made locally by Nicky Grant using chocolate from the Carenero bean, are available to buy at Barefoot.

FEBRUARY OPENING HOURS: 11-4pm - Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
